Marksa, Novosibirsk, 630073, Russian Federation Abstract The paper analyzes the schemes of surface plastic deformation with an ultrasound tool. It was found out that in most cases the rigid fixation of the indenter to the waveguide is used. The scheme of processing with unfixed deformer is mainly used for forming. The analysis of used ultrasonic processing schemes revealed their main features. The use of unfixed indenter allows excluding the localization of the wear zone and increasing its operating time, and the loss of acoustic energy in the "indenter-waveguide" can be partially excluded by the selection of amplitude-frequency characteristics of ultrasonic vibrations. It is established that the works on studying the regularities of formation of micro-geometric and physical-mechanical state at surface plastic deformation with an ultrasonic instrument with an unfixed indenter are rather small and of practical and theoretical interest to study this issue in depth.
