Ulianov Chuvash State University, 15 Moskovsky Prospekt, Cheboksary, 428015, Russian Federation Abstract In this work, the behavior of PMS-1 grade copper powder during its intensive processing in an attritor is studied and the main physical and mechanical properties of hot-extruded rods made from the initial copper powder and from copper granules obtained in the attritor are determined. The influence of different regimes and duration of processing in an attritor on the physical and mechanical properties of copper powder is studied and its optimal parameters are identified, the effect of the processing of the copper powder in the attritor on the chemical composition, type and structure of impurities contained in it is determined. It is shown that the processing of copper powder in the air of the working chamber of the attritor led to the production of a material qualitatively different from pure copper, which can be qualified as a dispersion-strengthened composite material, due to the presence of fine, uniformly distributed particles of copper oxide in it. This material, compared to technical copper, has a slightly lower thermal conductivity, but higher strength characteristics and a recrystallization temperature. Keywords Powder copper, reactive mechanical alloying, attritor, dispersion-strengthened composite material, granules, hardness, thermal conductivity, recrystallization temperature.
