Ulianov Chuvash State University, 15 Moskovsky Prospekt, Cheboksary, 428015, Russian Federation Abstract In today's context, for the successful growth of enterprises in the machine-building industry, the extensive method (due to the scaling of production) is a dead-end branch. Often, the lack of space, personnel, and equipment create bottlenecks. In this case, the intensive method helps to solve many problems by increasing the efficiency of technological processes. Modern powder materials have high mechanical properties, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. This paper discusses the use of powder steels with a high content of chromium, vanadium and molybdenum in tooling and the experience of application at AO Cheboksary Electrical Apparatus Plant (CHEAZ). The M390 steel made it possible to exclude the chrome coating of the molds forming parts. The use of modern materials reduces production costs and leads to economic advances.
