Marksa, Novosibirsk, 630073, Russian Federation Abstract A functional and logical method for studying machines for the theoretical design of crushers that reduce particles of food mixtures is given. It is known that for machines such as roller crushers, there is no general theory for its calculation. The paper makes an attempt to create a calculation methodology using various methods of identifying the functionality of logical connections between the working bodies of the device and product particles that acquire its fractional size during the crushing process. An innovation in the research method is the use data on the fractional composition of particles in the development of equations for mechanical crushing operations and the compilation of modeling functions from it. Using these functions, the relationships between densities and degrees of grinding are determined based on the mass of particles at each step of the crushing process. Then the resulting dependencies are summed up and the overall dependency is entered into the performance formula. The calculation method using the new performance formula expands the range of device parameters and represents a calculation system for a roll crusher.
