Marksa, Novosibirsk, 630073, Russian Federation Abstract The paper describes the development of a slit system for synchrotron radiation (SR) research stations. The main requirements for the device are considered. Calculations of the required material thickness for forming the beam cross-section are presented, and the manufacturing requirements for the working edges of the knives are specified, based on calculations and edge quality requirements. The principle of knife movement with the required range and accuracy is described. During assembly, problems related to unlubricated friction in a vacuum were solved. Verification of the required performance characteristics of the slit system was conducted. The developed device enables forming the required synchrotron radiation beam cross-section with the necessary precision, ensuring its wide application in scientific stations.
