The advantage of proposed small-sized pneumatic percussion mechanism is its high power-to-weight ratio and a comparatively small cost. The paper presents the results of pilot studies which served as basic data in choosing the main technical characteristics of the small-sized pneumatic percussion mechanism. Examples of the most effective use of the mechanism in the conditions of city building are given. It is shown that the mechanism can be used as a pneumatic drive of self-moving devices to clean pipes from a soil core, when driving metal profiles of small cross section into soil, and also as an operating body in installations of horizontal directional drilling.
