Lenivtseva , V.V. Samoylenko, P.N. Komarov The paper is devoted to investigation of the structure and properties of materials obtained by the method of electron beam cladding of titanium carbide and niobium carbide powders into substrate of CP-titanium in air. The overlay welding process was carried out by using the industrial electron accelerator ELV- 6 at the Institute of Nuclear Physics. The particularity of this device is the injection of electron beam to the atmosphere. Protection of materials against the oxidation during the treatment process was realized by adding the 50 % protective flux to the powder mixture. The structure of titanium alloy coating contains the carbide particles with different morphologies. The microhardness level of titanium surface layers is greater than the hardness of commercially pure titanium by several times. It was shown that the wear resistance of the surface layer fabricated during the overlay welding of titanium carbide powders is higher than the wear resistance of titanium VT1- 0 by 9.4 times. Key words: titanium, electron-beam cladding, titanium carbide, microhardness, wear resistance
