Abstract
The paper proposes a formal description of the model for knowledge representation, combining a frame-based
ontology with production model. A frame-implementing object-oriented approach allows dealing with deep-structured
knowledge, but provides no other inference mechanisms than the mechanism of inheritance and associated procedures.
Production model, in contrast, has a relatively weak expressive capabilities based on propositional logic, but provides a
strong inference of knowledge-based method allows the direct inference to receive the logical consequences that are the
result of solving a particular problem. The combination of these models into a single hybrid structure allows, on the one
hand, the possibility to use the deep structural approach to knowledge representation, on the other hand, to implement a
unified inference engine on these structures which does not exclude, however, the mechanism of inheritance and
procedural attachments.
