Abstract
X-ray structural investigation of the products of the mechanochemical reduction of iron oxide with aluminium allowed us to reveal the features of the processes of this kind. It was established that not only the phase composition of the products of the mechanochemical reaction but also the morphology of aluminium oxide depend on the quantitative composition of the mixture. The application of a solid solution of aluminium in iron as a reducing agent allowed us to obtain nano-sized aluminium oxide and iron undergoing the phase transition from α-iron into γ-iron at a temperature of 620 °C.
